Peonies come in several colors like bright pink, maroon red, white, etc. Their delicate soft petals that resemble rose petals. Sometimes, at first glance, Peony flowers look like huge rose flowers, but when you examine a Peony plant closely, Peony normally dont have torns in the stem, its bud looks like a green ball, the leaves are noticably different shape compare to a rose, and the flower may look like a rose at a glance but they have their own shape and unique characteristics. The ladies who used to grow huge gorgeous peonies in the MidWest back in the '40 insisted that without the ants the peony blossoms would not open. Somewhere I read that is not true. Does anyone know of evidence for or against this?
hi Janet Ann, thanks for dropping by!
this is the first time that ive ever heard of ants myth in peony blossoms! our peony flowers blooms every year, but im not sure if they do bcoz of the ants though. Once in a while when i check the blossoms, i see ants in the petals. But not certain about their importance in the blooming process..
